REHOGAR – Open Design and Reuse showcases a wide range of projects which differ hugely in their level of complexity and scale of application. All have been developed to awaken our consciousness and to instigate change in our ways of living and interacting. Each one, in its own way, opens up and consolidates paths towards greater social and environmental justice.
These are real projects which provide everyday solutions and are worth far more than physical objects and their applications. More than 40 projects from across the world take a step away from the commercial throwaway culture and bring us closer to a collective and global consciousness based on using, caring and transforming.
The tenth edition of REHOGAR X started in September 2018 at the Espai Zero of Fabra i Coats in Barcelona , city that hosts the exhibition for the last three years. After, in a period that will last until the fall of 2019, the exhibition will tour in collaboration with some of the most important cultural production spaces of Spain, such as Tabakalera CICC in Donostia, Medialab Prado and Central del Diseño in Madrid, and Cultural Center La Nau in Valencia.
Each stop is complemented by different activities with the aim of spreading and exploring the theoretical framework, knowing first-hand and putting into practice some of the solutions and proposals exhibited, and generating spaces of remix and fun that favour the generation and strengthening of collaboration networks.
Of the 43 exhibited proposals, half of them have been selected through an open call for projects and workgroups that took place the months before to the opening.
The collection is completed with a selection of projects invited by the organization that want to amplify the dialogue that the exhibition proposes.
REHOGAR is now in its tenth edition, and this year’s exhibition and activities are complemented with a narration of a ten-year process which has helped us to grow and feel supported. We want to acknowledge the context, people, alliances and challenges that we’ve met along the way.
Over its lifetime, REHOGAR has exhibited more than 490 national and international projects. The initiative has woven a solid network of people, professionals and communities which drive open and reproducible transformation processes based on new economic, social and environmental paradigms.
