Plastic Blowing Project

“What would happen if an old manufacturing process were to be merged with cheap and mass-produced materials?”. This project came about because of my curiosity in the above question. Plastic pipes, basically used for distributing water, are easily available at local DIY stores. By applying air pressure into a closed pipe, which was slowly warmed by a heater to make it soft, my flower vase was born.


KODAI IWAMOTO (Kagoshima, Japan) began his study of product design at Kobe Design University in Japan. After graduating he joined the educational design project Design Soil. He then moved to Lausanne (Switzerland) to study a master’s in ECAL. After living in Lausanne, he moved to Tokyo where he has been actively working with several furniture brands from both Japan and other countries.
